3rd Annual Haunted House Oct 25-26

Please come to GDABVI’s annual “fun”raiser for our summer children’s programs. It takes place on October 25-26, 2019 at 16625 Grand River Ave, Detroit, MI 48227. Friday hours are 3-5pm for people with disabilities to have extra time in the Halloween maze. General public time is 6-9pm. In memory of Lila Cabbil

GDABVI was saddened to learn of the passing of Mrs. Lila Cabbil, a long-time Occupational Therapist for blind and visually impaired children. Lila worked at GDABVI and its predecessors — the Detroit Society for the Blind and the Upshaw Institute — from 1968-2003. Mrs. Cabbil departed on February 23, 2019 in Detroit, Michigan; and homegoing services were held on March 9, 2019 in Warren, Michigan. Another successful season of Goalball!

The children in our Goalball & Fitness Pogram for visually impaired kids had a great time this summer improving their team skills and coordination, learning to prepare daily lunch and just having fun! This year’s group included 11 young people — ages 6 thru 15 — from Southeastern Michigan who were taught basic goalball skills then grouped into competitive teams.
